Civil Engineering



The department has strong focus in the research areas of Transportation Systems Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Structural Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Remote Sensing, and Construction Technology and Management.

The Department of civil engineering has been functioning since 2008 with emphasis on fundamental theory and practice in Civil Engineering, keeping in view the current and continuously changing scenarios in this discipline. The department offers a full time B.Tech degree course in civil engineering. Apart from conducting academic programs, additional computer courses, seminars and workshops are conducted for the students as well as the faculty. A number of consultancy works are also being carried out. The department was under the affiliated to JNT University Hyderabad. The present student intake of the department is 120.The department has well experienced faculty. In addition to teaching and instruction, the faculty is also engaged in active research with an aim to generate innovative concepts and ideas or apply the existing technologies to new applications. The department has a number of ongoing/completed/applied research projects and industrial consultancy work from various agencies. The department also organizes Conferences / Workshop for professional interaction. The students from different parts of the state are studying in the branch.

The Department has fully equipped Labs with state-of-the-art equipment including Applied Mechanics Lab, Structures Lab, Strength of Materials Lab, Soil Mechanics Lab, Environmental Engineering Lab, Concrete Lab, Transportation Engineering Lab, Hydraulics Lab, Fluid Machinery Lab, Surveying Lab, Engineering Geology Lab, Computational Lab, Advanced Structural Engineering Lab. For better awareness and interest of a student, continuous interaction with reputed companies is being organized at frequent intervals in the form of special technical lecture/ workshop/ site visit or exchange of technical knowledge etc. The Department also encourages its students to engage in extra curricular and co-curricular activities, essential for overall development, nurturing of team spirit and developing organizational skills to keep themselves abreast with current developments in the area of Civil Engineering.'
